The Tamil Karnatic Society of Royal College was established in the year 1980 by Mrs. A. Gopalan with the help of a set of enthusiastic students of the Tamil Section. This is a society which builds the knowledge about the karnatic music among the students and also protects the tradition and rituals of the karnatic music

The main projects of the society are the All Island Inter School Competition, Inter Grade Competition and the celebration of “Isai vizha” where programmes related to Karnatic Music are performed. Apart from that, the winners of the Inter School and Inter Grade competitions are felicitated.
