History

The Student Christian Movement of Royal College was inaugurated in the year 1955 with the 1st Chairman of the club being Mr. Nihal Jayathunga. Since its inauguration the Student Christian Movement has organized the Carol Service every year in coordination with the Catholic Students Union.

The main objective of the Student Christian Movement is to spread the word of God to all Christian students of college while supporting them and to uphold their faith in the religion.  As the Christian students are a minority out of the student population, the Student Christian Movement works jointly with the Catholic Students Union in order to achieve its targets. This is seen during the month of December when both clubs come together in order to organize the carol service. The main aim of organizing an annual carol service is that it gives the opportunity for the whole school to get together and celebrate Christmas together
